The Overhead Door Company agreed to purchase 10,000 units of the system in 1994 and renamed it Ultraglide to merchandise through Overhead Door Company dealerships. Clipenglyde/Uttraglide won a new product award the following year at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) convention in Houston, but what happened afterwards is a little murky, except that it disappeared from the market within the next decade.

What we do know is that the plastic track clips did not hold up as well as expected, and that replacement parts are now difficult-to-impossible to find. The Clipenglyde just never caught on.

While we hope you find this series of articles about home inspection helpful, they should not be considered an alternative to an actual home inspection by a local inspector. Also, construction standards vary in different parts of the country and it is possible that important issues related to your area may not be covered here.
